Hello everyone, time for a proper intro post on here!

First, hi, I'm Ant (they / them if you would), welcome to the Gaming Hell Sideblog! You might know me on the internet as tepidsnake, or be familiar with my lil' website Gaming Hell (and its mascot Sarah, who's the profile icon over here) or maybe my Twitch channel where I stream old games for fun. I was on Cohost for a little while, and it worked out nicely, mostly for posting my MS Paint art and Arcade Archives release posts, although it was nice to have a place to do the odd bit of research-sharing here and there. Well, that's gone now, with Cohost going read-only. What is a retro game goofball to do? Go to Dreamwidth instead! So, we'll be continuing our activities here. Let's go over the sort of junk we'll post on Dreamwidth, then~ (Each one will have its own tag so it'll be nice and organised for everyone)

Arcade Archives

The main thing I'll be doing here is, every Friday (give or take) we'll be posting a big thing about the week's Arcade Archives release on Playstation 4 and Switch. Every week, Hamster Corp (usually) rereleases an arcade game from their own IP library of the likes of Nichibutsu and Video System or external companies like Namco, Taito and Konami, complete with manuals and sometimes including extra options like bug-fixes and displays for otherwise-hidden things like the player's health in The Tower of Druaga. Now, I love arcade games! A lot! Some of these games aren't too well-known so I wanted to give them the best coverage I can to introduce them to other people so they can enjoy them too! I even maintain this Arcade Archives spreadsheet to keep track of all releases and note what extra features and edits they have. You may wish to turn to far-more knowledgeable people like gosokkyu or ohfivepro as I definitely have my blindspots (shmups, mostly) but people have said they enjoy these posts, so I didn't want them to stop just because Cohost was shutting down.

If you'd like an idea of what these posts are like, here's all the old ones from Cohost, oldest to newest. Wowee, that's a lotta cool arcade games, huh?

Alright, what's next on the list? Oh, yes, I draw cute things in MS Paint. People seem to like them so I'll keep doing it. Posting them on a place like this gives me the chance to talk about the character I've drawn and that, which is nice!
Gaming Hell Updates

There's nothing here.

Finally, we have the least-common type of post we'll see here, updates to my actual website. New articles aren't as frequent as I'd like them to be at the moment (a single new article a month is a good rate for it, believe it or not, and I'm not even hitting that) but they will be back in due course. For now though, there was a recent upload about Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, so perhaps you'd like to check that out, and take a look at all our other articles, you might even find some of them interesting!

The only other thing worth mentioning is I used to make posts on Cohost on when my streams were starting, but seeing as people might be using the RSS feed feature here rather than registering an acount on DW itself, I wouldn't want to clog people's feed so I'll not do those for now. Let's see how things go. I think that covers everything for now, so please look forward to more posts in the future!
